What the document says

The Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) issued Bulletin BT2026157 on September 29, 2026, reminding providers scheduled for revalidation to submit applications promptly upon receiving notification. The bulletin follows IHCP Bulletin BT202694, which announced an accelerated provider enrollment revalidation plan for certain providers. Providers are notified of revalidation due dates via mailed letters sent at least 90 days before the revalidation end-date, portal notifications upon login, and a publicly accessible online spreadsheet at in.gov/medicaid/providers. Providers classified as moderate or high-risk are subject to additional screening requirements. Moderate and high-risk providers must undergo an unannounced site survey conducted by Gainwell Technologies, performed only after all other required documentation is reviewed and approved. High-risk providers additionally must complete fingerprint-based background checks for any person with 5% or greater direct or indirect ownership or controlling interest, including nonprofit board members; background checks must be no older than six months. Providers who fail to complete revalidation by the required date are temporarily deactivated but retain IHCP Portal access to submit claims for dates of service prior to the deactivation date. Upon completion of all revalidation screening activities, providers are fully reactivated with no gap in enrollment status. Providers who fail entirely to submit a revalidation request by the revalidation date are deactivated and must re-enroll as new providers. For temporarily deactivated providers, Traditional Medicaid (fee-for-service) prior authorization requests must be delayed until reactivation, after which providers may submit retroactive authorization requests for up to three months post-reactivation, accompanied by documentation on letterhead stating the application tracking number, revalidation submission date, and deactivation date. Managed care providers are directed to their applicable managed care organization for authorization guidance during deactivation. Providers needing to correct a revalidation application after temporary deactivation must contact the IHCP Portal Help Desk at 800-457-4584 and complete corrections before midnight on the day of contact.

What this may mean

Applies to all IHCP-enrolled providers in Indiana subject to the accelerated revalidation plan, including moderate and high-risk providers facing site survey and fingerprinting requirements. Providers that miss revalidation deadlines face temporary deactivation and loss of authorization submission rights, or permanent deactivation requiring full new-provider re-enrollment. Retroactive authorization rights for fee-for-service Traditional Medicaid are limited to a three-month window following reactivation.
