WY SF 57: Transparency in hospital service pricing.

Score 61PRIMARYregulatoryState legislatureWY

Summary

Wyoming SF 57, signed into law as Chapter 78, requires all Wyoming hospitals to publicly list prices for medical items and services on their websites. The Wyoming Department of Health is directed to monitor compliance, require corrective action plans from noncompliant hospitals, impose civil penalties, and recommend legislative amendments; the Department may also impose sanctions on a hospital's license for noncompliance. The law includes a sunset date of July 1, 2029, and requires the Department to promulgate implementing rules.

What this may mean

Wyoming hospitals must post prices for medical items and services on their websites and are subject to civil penalties and potential license sanctions for noncompliance. The Department of Health will actively enforce the requirement through corrective action plans and rulemaking. The law operates independently of, and adds to, federal CMS hospital price transparency requirements already applicable to these facilities.
