Score 76PRIMARYregulatoryState MedicaidWA

Summary

Washington State's Health Care Authority updated the Mental Health Services Billing Guide effective July 1, 2026, adding and revising multiple policy sections for Apple Health (Medicaid) mental health providers. Key changes include new Collaborative Assessments billing guidance, updated Clozapine (Clozaril) case management and monitoring policy relocated from the Physician-Related Services Billing Guide, a new Brief Emotional/Behavioral Assessment service description, and a renamed Children and Youth Mental Health Provider Attestation form (HCA 13-951) that now incorporates Behavioral Health Support Specialists and clarifies the applicable age range as 18 and younger.

What this may mean

Mental health providers billing Washington Medicaid must use the updated Clozapine case management and monitoring billing guidance from the Mental Health Services Billing Guide rather than the Physician-Related Services Billing Guide for dates of service on or after July 1, 2026. The renamed attestation form now encompasses Behavioral Health Support Specialists and applies to patients 18 and younger. Collaborative Assessments now have dedicated billing guidance in both Parts I and II of the guide.
